Richmond, VA - Today, Anne Holton campaigned on behalf of her husband, Tim Kaine, in Hampton Roads. Holton attended a canvass kickoff in Virginia Beach and a phone bank in Newport News, where she thanked local volunteers for their support and highlighted the impact of their hard work on Kaine’s success in November.
“It is wonderful to see all of you out here today ready to knock on doors and share Tim’s strategies to create jobs and strengthen our economy to move Virginia forward,” said Holton to supporters in Virginia Beach. “This race is going to be incredibly close and the work you do knocking on doors, making calls, and talking with folks in your community will make the difference for Tim on Election Day.”
At both events, Holton shared Kaine’s Virginia-based strategies to create jobs, responsibly deal with the deficit, and strengthen the economy for the long term. She also emphasized the importance of strong grassroots support from volunteers to counter the millions of dollars of secret money in the race.
“Washington needs less partisan gridlock, and more leaders like Tim who know how to work together to achieve results,” said Holton. “Tim served as governor during the worst recession since the Great Depression and he had to make tough but necessary cuts to keep Virginia’s economy on track. However, he balanced those cuts with significant investments in priorities like education and infrastructure to ensure our workforce remains competitive and continues to attract world-class businesses and jobs to Virginia. Now Tim has a plan to create more jobs across the country with forward looking, Virginia-based strategies that level the playing field for small businesses, develop a talented workforce, and reduce the deficit.”
Since the beginning of the year, Holton has traveled across the Commonwealth to meet with voters and share Kaine’s strategies to find common ground in Washington and move Virginia forward.
